Swan Lake

Hornsea Mere in East Yorkshire is a great place for birdwatching, there is always something to be seen.  This is a collection of photos I took yesterday of Mute Swans, which although they may be common are certainly beautiful to look at. These Swans are all wild.

Raptors galore

The last few months have been great around here for raptors.  Four hen harriers, a pallid harrier, up to eight short eared owls. a couple of barn owls, lots of kestrels and a couple of sparrowhawks visiting my garden on a daily basis. Here are some photos from the last couple of weeks.

Kestrel - so close I couldn't get all of it in shot

Catch up

It has been six weeks since Iast posted and we are in to a new year so I thought I had better finish off last year.

Purple Sandpiper - you can always rely on seeing them at Bridlington

Hen Harrier - these birds have been hanging around for four months now

Pallid Harrier - looks at first glance like a Hen Harrier but a rare visitor to these shores

Hen Harrier Bonanza

A beautiful, mainly sunny day brought some good photo opportunities for the local Hen Harriers.
